Χρυσό η Βλάζιτς στο ύψος

Στο ύψος γυναικών η Μπλάνκα Βλάζιτς κατέκτησε το χρυσό μετάλλιο. Η 24χρονη άλτρια από την Κροατία ξεπέρασε τα 2,05μ. και «φλέρταρε»
με την κατάρριψη του παγκοσμίου ρεκόρ.Το αργυρό μετάλλιο κατέκτησε η Αντονιέτα Ντε Μαρτίνο από την Ιταλία με 2,03μ., επίδοση που αποτελεί εθνικό ρεκόρ, ενώ μέχρι το ίδιο ύψος έφτασε και η Ρωσίδα Άννα Τσιτσέροβα (ατομικό ρεκόρ).


η πρωταθλήτρια Κροατίας, Μπλάνκα Βλάσιτς, με 2.06 αναδείχτηκε πρώτη στο ύψος, πετυχαίνοντας την καλύτερη φετινή επίδοση στον κόσμο και τρίτη καλύτερη στην ιστορία του αθλήματος, ενώ απέτυχε τρείς φορές στην κατάρριψη του παγκοσμίου ρεκόρ αδυνατώντας να υπερβεί τα 2.10 μ

Η Βλάσικ Μπλάνκα λίγο μετά την επίδοσή της στο ύψος (2.06μ) δήλωσε: «Ηρθα χαλαρά στους αγώνες για να τους απολαύσω. Μου βγήκαν τα άλματα και έκανα αυτό το ρεκόρ. Σίγουρα θα κάνω το παγκόσμιο ρεκόρ στους επόμενους αγώνες. Είμαι ευχαριστημένη από την επίδοσή μου».

Blanka Vlasic (born November 8, 1983 in Split) is a Croatian high jumper and current world champion. A double world junior champion, she won the high jump bronze medal at the 2004 IAAF World Indoor Championships. Her personal best jump at 2.07 m is also a national record and was set on August 07, 2007. Only two women (one indoor and one outdoor) have jumped higher than this. She became a world champion in 2007 World Championships in Athletics with a jump of 2.05 m.

She competed at the 2000 and 2004 Olympics without much success, although she was aged just sixteen and twenty at the respective times.

She finished 4th in the high jump final at the 2006 European Athletics Championships in Gothenburg earning the distinction of becoming the first athlete not to win a medal with a jump higher than 2m (she cleared 2.01, but she needed more attempts than Bronze Medalist, Kajsa Bergqvist).

Blanka Vlasic is coached by her father Josko, a former decathlete.

Vlasic is currently the world's top-ranked high jumper, as well as being seventh in the overall rankings
